Making the feed more scannable with visual cues#37

Right now, all articles in the feed look the same, which works, but I think it could be easier to scan at a glance if articles had some kind of quick identifier based on their topic.

Maybe something like:

  • Icons/emojis next to titles – A brain for psychology, a robot for AI, etc. When a user creates an interest, the LLM could auto-assign a fitting emoji by default, but let them change it if they want.
  • Color-coded tags or title text – The simplest version would be color-coding the tags, but you could also apply colors to the article titles themselves, again letting users tweak them.

This would be especially useful when following very different topics. If you’re into say AI and software engineering, a color distinction might not be that useful since they’re somewhat related. But if you’re into software engineering and psychology, the contrast would make it way easier to spot what you’re in the mood to read at a glance.

This could be a toggle in settings, so users who prefer a more uniform look can disable it.

I’d love to have some “key interests” that establish an initial grouping and then the key interests could have color coding. Thinking about the UX of Notion Mail’s AI sorting
